I was a captain at Dixie in 1968, but couldn't finish due to an emergency appendectomy. I might have been an associate captain in 1967 and possibly before but details are fuzzy. I was first chair FLUTE in the top band under Scrubby Watson. Those were wonderful times. If anyone has photos to share from 67 and 68, I would love to see them. I've enjoyed a successful career as a professional flutist (website at http://donbailey.net). I would love to hear from old Dixie friends.

I remember counting down the days and the anticipation til that beautiful summer week that we all knew as Dixie! I went to Gulf Breeze High School in Florida and we would take a bus for hours and hours and hours til we finally made it to Conway. Miss it so much! Thanks for 6 summers of wonderful memories. --Andrew Ferrara DBC 2000-2005

So glad to have found this site. I have so many fond memories and am thankful for the experience. I played alto sax and attended in 75, 76, 78, and 1979. It was quite an honor to be a captain my final year at camp. I think the biggest complement I can give to our instructors and faculty is that they instilled in me the joy of music. Music has opened so many doors for me in travels and in friendship. As a result, I still play saxophone to this day! Brock H. Summers, MD

I taught the twirling classes there for 2 or 3 years and made some very good friends. This is a great tradition!
