I first attended Dixie Band Camp in '93 when I started Band at the age of 12. I attended this camp for 4 years. I am a Trombonist. My first audition experience took me by surprise. I was happy that I made the 1st Band, but at first, the music was very challenging, but fun. That first time experience caused me to order the video of the bands performing. I must have played those tapes almost every day. I was very proud of myself. I really thank my first and most important band director, Mr. Bobby L. Porter, for building my music foundation. He inspired me. I am the Founding and current Band Director at Galena Middle School in Holly Springs, Mississippi. 11 of my students will be attending the Dixie Band Camp 2011 tomorrow!!! This will be their first time going to a Band Camp! Why not introduce them to the BEST BAND CAMP IN THE NATION!

I attended Dixie in the late 60s. It was held at the Carl R. Reng Center at ASU in Jonesboro, Arkansas. If I remember correctly, Jim Deneke was the head boy captain. That means Steve Warner was there probably the same time I was there. Small world.

I'm a younger alum from the graduating class of 2009! I started attending Dixie after David Leonard recommended it in the 7th grade and I'm still attending today as a UCA worker. Dixie is one of my many reasons for staying with music through college, and I hope to be able to bring that to the future generations!
